Choice between Neutral and Evil is about recognizing that our choices have consequences and that we must strive for a world where dignity, hope and justice prevail. Let us choose to stand up against evil (and give up other morally complex choices)
The Dark Reality : When Evil Candidates Vie for Power
As we approach the elections, we are faced with a stark reality: the majority of candidates vying for power are advocating for policies that perpetuate evil.
In this context, the concept of choice between good and bad becomes increasingly irrelevant, as all major contenders seem to be embracing a notion of “evil” that is often disguised as pragmatism or progress.
The Slippery Slope: How Populist Leaders are Exploiting Fears for Power
The most striking example is the rise of populist leaders who have gained popularity by promising quick fixes and simplistic solutions to complex problems.
Their rhetoric often centers around scapegoating marginalized groups, demonizing other nations, and promoting divisive policies that play on people’s fears and insecurities. This brand of evil is particularly insidious because it masquerades as a form of “tough love” or “strong leadership,” making it difficult for voters to distinguish between genuine concerns about national security and xenophobic demagoguery.
A World on Fire: The Unintended Consequences of Prioritizing Profit over People
Another example can be found in the economic policies proposed by many candidates, which prioritize corporate interests over human welfare.
The relentless pursuit of profit and growth is leading to unprecedented levels of income inequality, environmental degradation, and social unrest. This brand of evil is particularly pernicious. Because it is often disguised as a necessary sacrifice for the greater good or a means to an end.
Morally Complex Pursuit of Dominance and Consequences of Normalizing Aggression
Furthermore, many candidates are advocating for military interventions and aggressive foreign policies that disregard international law and promote perpetual war.
The normalization of violence and aggression increasingly devalues human life. We also see the pursuit of power and dominance perceived as a viable solution to global problems
The Illusion of Neutrality : Why Good Options Seem Impossible in Morally Complex 2024
In this context, the choice between good and evil becomes almost impossible.
All major contenders seem to be advocating for policies that embody evil, whether through their rhetoric, actions, or inaction. The notion of “neutral” has become an illusion. Since any candidate who fails to explicitly condemn these policies is effectively condoning them.
Confronting Evil : The Courage to Stand Up
So, what can we do?
First and foremost, we must acknowledge the reality of the situation and stop pretending that there are good options amidst a sea of evil choices.
We must also recognize that the struggle against evil extends beyond the political sphere. It requires a fundamental transformation of our values, beliefs, and practices.
Ultimately, the choice between good and evil is not about selecting the “least worst” candidate; it’s about recognizing that our choices have consequences and that we must strive for a world where dignity, hope and justice prevail.
Let us choose to stand up against evil. Let us choose to build a world where all human beings enjoy reign of peace, prevail of harmony and flourish of equality.

It’s a continuous loop of growth.
